For six amazing seasons Julian MacMahon and Dylan Walsh made viewers laugh, cry, and be anxious as we watched week after week the trials and tribulations that Christian and Sean got themselves embroiled in. Never before had television so graphically and intellectually dramatized people's infatuation with looking beautiful by "going under the knife". Christian and Sean were not only intelligent and gorgeous-looking doctors, but were real human beings who sometimes had more problems than their patients.

Ryan Murphy, the creator, writer, and executive producer of "Nip/Tuck" proved he was a total genius with this series. His writing was always entertaining, yet educational and some of the cases depicted were actually based on real-life people. It is no wonder that Ryan would go on to helping create another hit show with FOX's " Glee".
Some huge Hollywood names were added to the cast as the years progressed in guest-roles including Vanessa Redgrave, Rosie O'Donnell, Mario Lopez, Joan Rivers, and most importantly Sharon Gless who played a psycho, based on Annie Wiles, in the fifth season.

This wonderful box set includes all 100 widescreen episodes of the series, along with all the bonues features that were part of the individual sets. These bonuses were gag reels, deleted scenes, and featurettes. Unfortuantely, no new bonuses are included in this "complete set", but if you haven't bought any "Nip/Tuck" DVD's this is a great place to start: the pricing is very affordable.
I kept putting this show off because it just didn't do a thing for me within the first ten minutes of the first episode. None of the actors seemed to have the WOW factor to keep me glued. Here we are almost a year later and the show has arrived on DVD. Me being the bargain shopper that I am, I decided to finally pick this up on DVD solely based on the fact that it was under seventeen dollars. Considering there's only eighteen episodes making each episode a little less than one dollar (Total Bargain). Needless to say, I was bored last night and needed something to watch and this flipped the bill perfectly. I finally gave this show a chance and it was worth it.
GossipGirl reminds me a lot of Cruel Intentions for some strange reason. If Manchester Prep School was made into a show, this would be that show.
I feel helpless because the show is almost done with its second season and I am only on episode three of season one.
GossipGirl revolves around Serena, the so-called IT GIRL who has disappeared for boarding school only a few months in only to make a surprise return into the city. Her old posse are all in shock when she returns and after much negative influence from Blair is axed from their inner circle. Though the narrator, Kristen Bell, keeps harping on the fact that it revolves around the lives of the rich and privileged in the Upper East Side of Manhattan - this couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth. I adore that the show is shot in Manhattan, but it's rarely on the UES. Many of the scenes are shot around Midtown and under. The Palace Hotel where Serena stays during the first season is in the fifties on Madison Ave. And the UES is not even all that. Everyone that lives in Manhattan knows how untrendy the UES is. It's just a playground for married couples who have children and want to pay overprice fees to send them to private schools instead of public schools.
Though this show is much like most teen soaps, lacking real talent and most of its stars just don't have the x-factor - its still deliciously devilish fun in the vein of Melrose Place. Kristen Bell narrates this show annoyingly yet fittingly with that darn teen condescending voice of hers. If you need something on TV to keep you entertained since Sex and the City went south after season three, this is the show for you. You know you love it XOXO! Hahaha。

I'm planning my home theater and have already set up the infrastructure using CAT6/gigabit network from my office, where my computer and router/switch is, to our living room. My question for you is this: is my dream of being able to watch HD content from a NAS file server more of a pipe-dream or do you think it worth time?

I still need to buy everything; amp, Blu-ray player and TV. But before I spend a lot of time researching what file type is best (MKV, Divx-HD, etc), or if a player must be DLNA compliant, the more basic question is have any of you tried this and do you enjoy it (is the stream good enough, or does it stutter all the time, etc.)?

I wanted to be able to buy a Blu-Ray disk, "rip" it to the best file format, store it on a NAS file server, and use the appropriate device (so far, that seems like that would be a networkable Blu-ray player) to watch it...being able to pause, fast-forward, rewind, etc. I know that you can plug in a portable USB hard drive to do this, but I was more interested in the network approach.

So, if you don't mind:

* Is this worth the time (I know that's kind of subjective, but I mean from a "is there good hardware for this" point of view)?
* If so, what's the best file format?
* Any suggestions for a good NAS server?
* Any suggestions for a Blu-ray player that can do this?

I know...a bunch of questions there. But even if you answer one of them, it would be a big help. So thanks very much!
One thing I haven't come across yet is the online content. I imagine to stream from netflix and places like that, you have to be a member and pay a monthly fee, but what about you tube?

Is gaining access to Youtube online through your BluRay player just like getting to it online where you have access to ALL the videos on youtube, or is it a service where you pay and only BluRay material is set up for you to access?

Also, any help in pointing me to a good player would be much appreciated. For now, I'll be hooking it up to my Toshiba 57Hx81 via component cables. I've been trying to decide if I should just go cheap and spend $200ish and then upgrade in a few years once I decide to get a new TV w/ HDMI, or just go all out now.

Any suggestions on how much I should spend? Is spending $500 now to much for a good bluray? I've been looking at a Sony player at costco for $229 that seems reasonable w/ built in WiFi.
I'll be starting a hardware refresh cycle here soon so I started browsing the forums again and found something that could help me phase in my purchases. One post mentioned being able to get HDMI video to the TV, while having the digital audio go over the optical out to the receiver. This would let me delay purchasing a new receiver, since my current receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs.

How can I tell for sure whether a particular Blu-ray player would support this? Do they pretty much all support it as long as there are both HDMI & optical outputs?

I've only just started perusing, but I expect to be getting a Blu-ray player that also streams Netflix (like the LG BD390).
