Watch Here, Watch There, Watch Everywhere! That is how BenQ Characterizes its Palm-Sized, Pocket Projector, the Joybee GP1. Well you pretty much can watch it "Here, There and Everywhere" and it is a Joy to do so. This is a very slick mini projector that is very nicely designed. It's 3 LED design allows you to show images up to 80" in size with stunning color and brightness. Perfect on the go for business meetings or home theater on the road. This is an awesome projector that reaches levels of color, contrast, brightness and image clarity that only a few years ago you could only dream of, or it would have been only available in projectors costing many thousands of dollars and ten times the size. The Joybee GP1 packs in so many features I had to keep telling myself, can it really only retail for $499?

Connectivity Sporting a USB Flash Drive this makes it one of the most versatile mini projectors on the market today. This allows you to go without a PC for Presentations on the go! Use the provided software and convert your Movies and Presentations to the USB drive and playback is possible without your PC or Laptop.  This truly makes the Joybee GP1 the most compact mini projector on the market today!

Magic Multi-Input Socket Design This input along with the special AV cable provided, the Joybee GP1 becomes one the most flexible multi-use projector on the market! Interconnectivity from Digital Cameras, Laptops, iPod, Video Playback, DVD, and Gamming Consoles are just a few things that you can connect to with this little dynamo! NOTE: iPod will require an Apple Composite AV Cable.

3-LED RGB Design Powered by BenQ’s latest 3-LED Technology, the BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini Projector was built with the intention to exceed cinema picture quality – giving you clearer, brighter, and more vivid images with optimized brightness, contrast ratio, native resolution, as well as a NTSC color gamut. This makes it possible for the first time to truly make Mobile Home Theater on the go a reality. Using 3 LED in a RGB configuration goes a long way to crushing the nearest competitors in the Mini Projector Market. If I could make one improvement in this department, I wish they had used 16:9 Anamorphic Chips rather than the 4:3 chips that are in the Joybee GP1.  This would have allowed for better HD improvement on 16:9 material.  That being said, I am not aware of any other Pocket Projector that is using 3 LEDs and also using 16:9 Anamorphic Chips but one can hope.

Compact Remote About the only thing I didn't like about the Joybee GP1 was the remote. While compact in size it wasn't very intuitive and was a bit awkward in it's button layout.

Can't find a smooth white wall? No problem. The BenQ has a color temperature right for you. Light Yellow, Pink, Light Green, Blue and even a setting for a BLACKBOARD! This little guy can go just about anywhere!

In Summary

While this projector is extremity well designed, I did have some slight issues with it. The remote as I mentioned earlier was a bit awkward to use. I also had problems with saving the user controls for color. Once you turned off the projector, the settings were not brought back up on startup. You had to go back in and toggle the user setting you saved to get it to come back up. Also the manual focus was a bit fussy and loose. As the projector warmed up it would cause the mechanism to expand and cause the unit to go out of focus. So multiple adjustments were necessary for me on focus until the unit came up to full running temperature.

All in all, this is one well rounded pocket projector with lots of features and a fantastic value. It is very flexible for someone on the go for business or who wants to have the convenience of taking your Home Theater with you when on the road. This little Beauty is only limited by your own imagination.

I am giving the BenQ Joybee GP1 "2010 Editor In-Chief Award" for Mini Projector. Everyone should have one. Well done BenQ!
